LINWOOD SQUASH CLUB NEWSLETTER  August 2010   CLUB CHAMPS!!!! Yes it is that time of the year again, time to compete against your team mates and enjoy a weekend at the Club with your friends.   Games will be starting on Thursday, possibly Wednesday 22nd September, so you may as well book out the whole week!!    This is always a good week to catch up with people that you might not get to see during the winter months.   All interclub players will be automatically entered, there are lists up at the club, please ensure you let any of the committee know if you are not able to play.  Otherwise we will be expecting you to see you on the court.   CLUB DINNER 25th September 2010 $30 Adults, $15 Children (12 & under) The dinner will be held after the prize giving for the Club Champs, so should be eating around 6.30pm.   We need numbers to provide to Spit Roast Company, so that we don’t run out of food!!  Please ensure that you let Toni Andrews know if you are going and how many of your family members will be attending.   John Patterson has done some great posters with all the details, these are currently up at the squash club.   Remember to be prepared to bring something for dessert – the committee will contact your team captain to advise what product to bring, whether it is ice cream, whipped cream, or something more spectacular!!   SPOT PRIZES Please can you contact the committee if you are able to donate any spot prizes.  Currently we have a 2degrees mobile phone on the way, and other things that may have been sitting in the garage which are unused and someone else may get some use out of.    NOW FOR A BIT OF FUN A little birdie advised the President of a small incident that occurred at the club after the first round of interclub.   A couple of men’s teams were down at the club on a Monday night having a small competition between them.  They needed something to do, so arranged supper and made a night of it.   They were a bit concerned when they were made to leave the building, with all the supper on the table, and fire-fighters in the lounge, not sure if the fire-fighters had had dinner, with all the supper on the table!!   It all started by cooking fish in the fry pan with margarine, the alarms going off, the boys ensuring they had a drink, before waiting outside for the fire truck – they were all very excited to see the fire engine!!  Every boys dream apparently??   But it was a shame the truck couldn’t get in, because the gates were shut.  Then the fire-fighters needed to turn the alarm off, so off they went into the main building, and in the process set off the burglar alarm!!   In the meantime the Linwood boys were out in the car park waiting to get back in for the food, or was it because their beverages had run out?  It definitely wouldn’t have anything to do with being cold outside!!   CONGRATULATIONS!!!
