9/4/10 Game 1 v Harewood

As expected, an evenly and tightly contested match ending up in a win to Avon, 2-0 with both goals from field play.  Margot Thomson opened the score with a well-struck shot from the top right of the circle and Kayle Murray added to it, close in from an excellent pass from a Hannah Mowat dribble along the back line.

Goal Scorers:  Margot Thomson (1), Kayla Murray (1)

17/4/10 Game 2 v St Margarets

This match was played in extremely hot conditions.  Avon dominated but could not convert opportunities, which proved costly.  The score ended up as a 1 all draw.

Player of the Day:  Hannah Mowat

24/4/10 Game 3 v Hornby

Played in contrasting conditions to last week - rain and a wet, sodden pitch.  Avon once again dominated, and once again did not convert opportunities.   Hornby counter-attacked four times and scored four times.  Half time score 4-1.  It was hard playing catch-up hockey, however Avon did not give in and pressured hard, especially in the last 20 minutes.  Although Avon won the second half, not enough goals were scored to overhaul Hornby.  Final Score: 5-3.

Player of the Day: Shelley Cummings

Goal Scorers:  Hannah Mowat (2), Amy Rendel (1)

01/5/10 Game 4 v Harewood

Rather an unforgettable game.  Harewood 1 Avon 0.

Qute the opposite to last weeks game.  Avon raised their standard considerable and played as a team for the whole 70 minutes, passing well and pressuirng Burnside into errors which were capitalised on.  They opened the score with a well-struck penalty corner and a deflection to the right post.  Four penalty corners were forced with three ebing converted.  A feild goal by Morgan Perry completed Avon's win 4-3.

Player of the Day: Hayley Aburn

Goal Scorers:  Lisa Booth (1), Kayla Murray (1), Margot Thomson (1), Morgan Perry (1)
